Kittens will be released at 4 months (16 weeks). Rabies vaccines are not given until 16 weeks. Neuters are performed at 16 weeks. If your kitten is traveling cargo they must wait 7 to 10 days post surgery prior to leaving. Kittens will have a quarantine period in our cattery after their 2nd set of immunizations. Our kittens do not leave at 12 weeks.

As soon as you have picked your kitten a $500 deposit will be due within 24 hours of approval. All deposit are nonrefundable. This your commitment to your purchase.

If you have been waiting to purchase your kitten prior to birth, deposits will be accepted after 6 week vaccines; you may pick your kitten after 4 week pictures are posted. This is a good faith agreement. You agree to place the deposit at 6 weeks. You will have 24 hours to do this or the kitten will go to the next person on the waiting list.

Placing deposits when kittens are not born or even conceived is in my professional opinion, unethical. We will never take money for a kitten that has not been born, nor will we accept deposits at birth. Life is fragile and we will monitor all kitten until first immunizations and vet check. Once they have been cleared by the vet and had no adverse reactions from the first set of vaccines, we will open deposits.

Final payment is due by the kittens 14th week after birth; we will send out notices. Payment in advance is an option at any date prior to departure date. Please deduct the $500 deposit from your total purchase cost.

If you would like to receive your registration paperwork and pedigree at time of delivery I recommend that you pay in full by 10 weeks. We do not register or order pedigrees until payment is made in full, this process transfers the ownership from us to you.

Flights/ground transport will not be arranged until payment in full has been received. If kittens are not paid in full by week 17, deposit will be lost and the kitten will be advertised as available for purchase.

If you are purchasing a kitten or cat that is past 16 weeks you will place the $500 deposit or payment in full once you have been approved. You will have 7 calendar days to make payment in full. Once payment has been made, transport and neuter will be arranged. If payment in full has not been made in 7 calendar days, deposit will be forfeited and the cat or kitten will be advertised as available for sale.

Cats/Kittens will not be neutered until payment in full has cleared the bank. This will create a delay of release in order to neuter you kitten. You may not elect to neuter your cat/kitten. Cats/Kittens will leave 7-10 days post surgery as they are on activity restriction until then.

Most often kittens arrive by flight. Flight can be cargo (only if climate controlled and not during a heat/cold ban) or personal courier (an individual person who will fly with your kitten in hand as a carry-on). Some kittens can arrive by ground transport via courier company. Fortis Fortuna employees provide ground transport at times; you must be within 30 miles max delivery distance. You are responsible for the cost of delivery for your kitten. You will give us the name of your nearest international airport (if outside of USA), local airport if in USA, or ground delivery drop-off address. We will contact our courier company for all flights, inform you of the cost and contact information of the chosen courier company. You will pay the courier and we will handle the details. If you have preference for certain dates please communicate this with the courier. If you would like us to handle all details you can make payment to Fortis Fortuna for the transportation and we will then forward payment to the courier and notify you of arrival date, time, etc.

If you are experienced in animal transport and have a courier or courier company that you are experienced and comfortable we will honor this delivery method after we have spoken with them and guaranteed their authenticity. This must be someone you are familiar with and have used in the past. Unfortunately people have tried to find “cheaper” delivery and have lost money and/or pets. We reserve the right to refuse to honor a courier of your choice if there is not substantial evidence that they are tried and true honorable couriers. The courier company for ground transport must provide insurance, cages with drop boxes below, no interaction outside the cage with any other animals. require all animals to have standard vaccines, etc.

Any kittens that fly cargo or ground transport break our two week quarantine requirement. This break of quarantine voids our two week health guarantee. You will still have your genetic/birth defect 6 month guarantee.

Cargo and ground transport is around $250.00 within the USA. If you elect for ground transport you must be available for delivery at their time and date. They travel from east to west coast one week and west to east the second week. If you would like ground transport to arrive at your chosen date and time the cost will be around $1,200. 00

We encourage everyone to fly in to pick up your own kitten and take them back in the cabin with you, as this is the least stressful for the kitten. American airlines charges about $125.00 for your kitten to fly cargo. If you would like a personal courier to deliver your kitten via flight/cabin, they price ranges from $1800.00 to $2200.00.

All kittens are seen by a licensed veterinarian at least 3 times. Deworming, immunizations, FIV/FeLV, health certificate, and neuter are provided by a licensed veterinarian.

Kittens will be wormed and vaccines will be given at 6, 10, and 16 weeks. At 16 weeks rabies vaccine will be administered. You will be required to vaccinate at 1 year. We do not start vaccines prior to  6 weeks as we believe the babies immune system responds best with this schedule.

If your kitten is traveling abroad they will see a Veterinarian that is licensed in providing a health certificate/passport that is recognized in all countries.

All kittens are required to have microchipping prior to leaving our cattery. Some countries require schedule regarding microchips. The kitten must be microchipped first, then given rabies vaccine, and then have a 30 day hold before entering the country. If you know your country holds to these standards, please advice us.

All kittens sold within the United States will be spayed or neutered as a absolute requirement prior to leaving our cattery.

Kitten sold outside of the United States may be sold intact for breeding or show on a case by case basis.

All kittens in the USA can be shown in any system in the spay/neutered class.

We do not guarantee any show potential in the kittens you purchase. We hope that all of our kittens will grow up to place highly in show. All of our kittens come from generations of champion lines. It would give us great pleasure to here from our graduates that they placed in show! If this happens; please send pictures so we can share in your success!

All kittens are Feline Immunodeficiency (FIV) and Feline Leukemia (FeLV) negative before they leave our cattery. All parents are negative for FIV, FeLV, and PKD.

All kittens live in our home as do their parents. They are handled multiple times a day from the day they are born.

Once they are big enough to run and play we play with them often…we love kittens! Each kitten will be exposed to children, dogs, and vacuums. We have a busy environment here at Fortis Fortuna so all kittens are accustomed to noise.

They have plenty of indoor trees to climb and toys to play with. Please have these items for your kitten at home when the arrive.

We help the kittens practice in advance for show, holding the kittens as they would be held in a show. We recommend you continue this behavior at home every day: hold them on their back with their belly up, turn them right-side up and hold them in the air with support under their font and pack legs, and spread them out long to show off that side profile as you cradle under the front arms and at the pelvis.

We recommend getting your kittens to show around 5 months so they can come accustomed to the show environment. If you plan to show…turn the tv up on high, place music, open and close doors, let them slam on occasion. The show environment is a very loud and busy place. You can forever traumatize a kitten or cat if they have not been prepared for such excitement.

We are so excited that you would like to join the world of show cats! First we wish you the best of luck in show!

Remember you are developing a temperament that will stand up on a show stand without fear. There will be strangers handling your baby, loud noises, and many many new smells. A little side note: the only stranger that should handle your kitten/cat at a show is the judges. Please do not let anyone else touch your baby. There is always the potential that someone has brought a sick cat that could be infections to all cats. Don’t fall into the trap of spreading disease to your baby. It is acceptable to tell adults and even children that they can not pet your baby.
